Celebrating Umbra Lux

Celebrating Umbra Lux

Our scandi-inspired family home 'Umbra Lux' has been reveling in success this year.

The build achieved Gold at the Registered Master Builders Southern House of the Year awards. The team enjoyed the gala celebrations at Transport World in Invercargill. We were delighted to later find out that we had also made it through to the Top 100 nationwide. The national awards are held in Christchurch in November, so we look forward to more celebrations to come.

It was a buzz to see the house featured in Home magazine too! If you missed the print copy, you can read the article online here

Umbra Lux was designed by Eliska Lewis architects. Umbra meaning shadow, and Lux a measurement for illumination - an architectural expression where shadows pass and light remains. Built for a family with roots in both New Zealand and Denmark, the home has a strong Danish aesthetic. Expansive views of the mountain and lakes are maximised, while clever use of moveable shade screens ensures privacy and shelter from the sun.
